Ever wanted to own one of the most powerful websites in the world?
That’s what Sanmay Ved managed to do – when he realised that the Google.com domain was on sale.
Of course, the tech giants weren’t selling up – but it didn’t stop Sanmay from paying £8 ($12) for ownership before Google realised their mistake after roughly 60 seconds.
Sanmay realised that the huge domain was on offer after browsing Google’s website-buying site, and realised that their very domain was up for grabs.
‘The domain actually got added to my cart as seen by the green check-box, and the domain appeared in my cart’,
Sanmay recalled in a LinkedIn post.
‘I was hoping I would get an error at sometime, saying transaction did not go through, but I was able to complete the purchase, and my credit card was actually charged!’
Sanmay is also a former Google employee – and admitted that he found the domain after constantly checking the site.
